Your Will tells everyone what should happen with your estate including money, possessions and property on your death. It gives you control, clarity and peace of mind.
We recommend that you make a Will and review any existing Will particularly following significant personal or financial changes in your life i.e. marriage, divorce or receiving an inheritance.
If you do not leave a Will, the law (the “Intestacy Rules”) will decide how your estate is passed on and this may not be what you would have wanted.
Important considerations when making a Will:
- Choice of Executors – Who will be responsible for carrying out the terms of your Will?
- Guardians – Who will look after your minor children?
- Beneficiaries – Who is to benefit from your Will?
- Children – at what age?
- Charities?
- Special needs considerations?
- Inheritance Tax – Is it payable?
- Gifts/Legacies – of cash or specific personal items
- Funeral wishes
- Organ donation
- Business Assets and Agricultural Property
