Matthew Needham

I head the Private Client Team and my work involves advising clients on establishing effective inheritance tax solutions to include wills, trusts, administration of estates, deeds of variation and family trusts. Philippa Crane

I have over ten years post-qualified experience and specialise in wills, trusts and probate. 

I advise a wide range of clients on their wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, providing tailored advice in relation to inheritance tax and estate planning for each client’s individual circumstances. 

I assist clients with all elements of estate administration, from probate applications and intestacy to complex inheritance tax matters, post-death variations and estate income and capital gains tax. I have a thorough knowledge of trust law and advise clients on all aspects of trust creation, taxation and administration. 

I am a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. 

Leanne Cooper

I have worked within the private client department of Crane and Walton LLP for over 17 years and have a wealth of experience and knowledge of private client law and procedure. 

I specialise in the administration of estates, drafting and interpreting Wills,  drafting Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications. I also advise clients on trust issues relating to trust administration as well as private client taxation involving inheritance tax, capital gains and income tax.

I offer a professional and supportive service to my clients, providing clear and concise legal advice. 

I am a full member of STEP and cross qualified from a FILEX to a solicitor in August 2021. 

Matthew Rice

I qualified as a solicitor in 2012 and advise clients on a variety of commercial property matters and domestic conveyancing.  Based in the firm’s Ashby Office, I joined Crane and Walton in 2021.  I specialise in a wide variety of commercial property matters, including real estate finance, acquisition and disposal work, overage agreements, and property development.  I have a particular interest in Landlord and Tenant work.  I pride myself on giving clear and effective advice to help my clients achieve their desired outcome and enjoy rising to new challenges.

In my spare time, I am a keen golfer and enjoy spending time with my family.

Emily Stephen

Solicitor

I specialise in all commercial property matters, with a particular focus on development related transactions, from initial acquisition stage through to final plot sales. This regularly involves drafting bespoke documents ranging from conditional contracts, development agreements, options and overage agreements. i work pro-actively alongside long-standing clients of the firm and have cemented good working relationships with clients along with their professional teams.  

I also act on behalf of local Parish Councils, Pension Funds and property owners on a range of commercial transactions including  Landlord and Tenant matters, re-financing and general property matters.

Outside of the office my daughter and disobedient dog keep me very busy. In between all of this I enjoy going on holiday, and spending time cooking for family and friends

I specialise in dealing with all aspects of residential conveyancing matters including sales, purchases, remortgages, equity release schemes, property and land transfers and new build plot purchases.

I qualified as a Solicitor in September 2002.

Jaya Venkatasamy

I qualified as a Solicitor in 2007.

I specialise in all aspects of residential property law including registered and unregistered land, freehold and leasehold sale and purchase, transfer of equity, remortgage, equity release, shared ownership, new build and Government Help to Buy schemes.

I also have experience in transfers of property relating to gifts and assents.

Jessica Paul

I am a newly qualified solicitor, in the firm’s Commercial Property Department. I am based in the Ashby Office, and specialise in a variety of matters, including Landlord and Tenant work and Overage Agreements.

When I’m not at work, I can usually be found either at home with my partner or at Music Festivals in the summer.

Natasha Dobson

I have been qualified as a solicitor and working in the private client sector for over 13 years.   With experience in Trusts, Estate Administration, Wills, Inheritance Tax Planning and Lasting Powers of Attorney I can offer a complete and client focused service.

My particular areas of expertise include the creation and administration of trusts, whether these are set up during a person’s lifetime or created in a Will.  I can support clients in navigating the income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax implications surrounding trusts to help them meet their planning needs.

I enjoy working with a diverse range of clients at Crane and Walton and aim to provide accessible and bespoke advice to all.

I am a Corporate Member of Crane And Walton LLP and qualified as a Solicitor in August 1989.

Kam Ubhi

Solicitor and LLP Member

I have expertise in contracts disputes, professional disputes, professional negligence, disputes involving directors, breaches of restrictive covenants, contentious probate, inheritance claims and trust litigation. In relation to Property Litigation I have expertise in relation to breach of covenant issues, dilapidations and repairs, Landlord & Tenant Act 1954(ii), business tenancies, nuisances and trespass, rent arrears and service charge disputes. I will provide a hands on approach when asked to deal with a dispute. I often become involved in negotiations and represent clients on settlement discussions and mediation in order to achieve a prompt and cost effective resolution to disputes.

I qualified as a Solicitor in October 1986.

I am a Solicitor advising on Private client matters including; Wills, Administration of Estates, Court of Protection applications, Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Elderly Client issues and Tax Planning matters. I also have experience in dealing with transfers of property, including Assents and Declarations of Trust.

I qualified as a Solicitor in January 2004.

I specialise in all matters relating to relationship breakdown: divorce, finances, children and cohabitee matters. The aim at the initial appointment is to establish the framework for the case so that you can be advised in terms of time, cost, procedure and outcomes. The aim is to be proactive in dealing with your case.

I qualified as a Solicitor in August 1996. I am a voracious reader of modern British, American and Indian history as well as current affairs on national and international issues.

I act for private individuals, small businesses, national companies and banks on a wide range of property matters including freehold and leasehold purchases, lease extensions, grant of leases and shared ownership matters. I also act for clients requiring technical advice in matters such as the grant of rights of way, boundary ownership and sale of land with development potential.

I qualified as a Solicitor in February 2010.

I studied law at Leicester University, and have been working in residential property since 2004. I qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 2012.

I specialise in all aspects of residential conveyancing, and deal with residential property transactions of all types including freehold and leasehold sales, purchases, re-mortgages, equity release schemes, transfers of equity, new build plot purchases, Help to Buy mortgages, and buy to let transactions.

Catherine Ward

I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 1997 and have specialised in residential conveyancing since.

I specialise in all aspects of residential conveyancing including freehold, leasehold, registered and unregistered matters.  I have dealt with new build plots, transfers of equity, help to buy, shared ownership and re-mortgages.

My main concern is ensuring that every transaction is dealt with efficiently and I believe very strongly that the key to a successful transaction is excellent communication with my clients.

Rebecca Abraham

I have over 13 years of post-qualified experience in private client law and advise on all areas of estate and Inheritance Tax planning and administration including the drafting and interpretation of Wills, creation and management of Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Probate and administration of estates including complex and taxable estates and post death variations.

I work with a wide range of clients with differing needs and backgrounds including high net worth individuals but always with the aim of providing legal solutions tailored to their individual concerns and requirements.
